Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve, with much excitement, re-opened its doors to eager guests in August after being closed for renovations, rest assured all the authentic appeal associated with this wonderful bush lodger remains.

Built over 30 years ago, Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve is a traditional style safari lodge, situated in the north of the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve in Mpumalanga.

While many safari lodges in the country have become fixated on luxurious frills, Cheetah Plains has remained simple yet stylish with a focus on providing guests with a comfortable escape in a laid back atmosphere.

The safari experience at Cheetah Plains offers close encounters with abundant wildlife. It is a nostalgic glimpse into living in the bush, where meals are enjoyed around a lively camp fire while the sounds of the African bush seduce you into abandoning city life forever.

The owners wanted to retain the original essence of the lodge so they focussed on enhancing and emphasising the elements that make Cheetah Plains such a special place. Fresh, vibrant African colours were also added to the traditional safari décor for a subtle contemporary fusion.

Cheetah Plains prides itself on giving guests the ultimate relaxation experience and accordingly has created comfortable spaces where guests can unwind between drives and meals.

Taking in the sights on loungers overlooking the waterhole or on the upstairs deck or flipping through a novel at the freshly tiled swimming pool are sure ways to bask in sheer pleasure.

The lodge has six standard rooms, which are comfortable and homely and equipped with an en suite bathroom, including a shower.

The two luxury rooms are a bit bigger and both have an en suite bathroom as well as an outdoor shower is the perfect place to start your morning.

With 8 500 hectares of land to traverse, the renowned Sabi Sand Game Reserve offers visitors an unforgettable animal viewing experience.

The reserve is famous for its teeming wildlife and beautiful birds, but also the regular sightings of Africa’s big cats – most notably leopard.
