Dullstroom - The luxury Akabeko Boutique Hotel, which opened in December, is set in the countryside just 38km from Dullstroom, in Mpumalanga.
It consists of seven plush suites, a restaurant and bar. Akabeko Boutique Hotel aims to offer the ultimate in luxury accommodation.
Rooms are decorated to perfection. They have their own en suite kitchenette, a dining-room table for two, lounge, fireplace and open-plan bedroom, with beautiful views.
The bathrooms are lined with black marble, with a Rainmaker shower and sunken bath. A sun deck stretches around the whole room and has an outside shower. The bath is cleverly designed to double as a small pool, as the stackaway doors give access to the sun-deck area.
The Akabeko Restaurant, which offers good country cooking, is run by chef Lucas van Eden, who is well known in the Dullstroom area. Expect to find oxtail, steaks, trout, as well as a selection of salads and desserts on the a la carte menu. The fireplaces ensure coziness in the cold winter months.
