From the moment you step onto the true African bush soil at Jacis to the moment you leave, you and your familys needs are specially catered for.

Originally designed, built and decorated by owners Jan and Jaci Van Heteren, Jaci’s Lodges are family run making it 100 percent family friendly. No matter your age, there’s something for the whole family at Jaci’s Lodges.

Jan and Jaci, together with their three children, have lived in Madikwe for almost 20 years and at Jaci’s Safari Lodge for almost 14 of those. It was their desire to live in this beautiful, vast game reserve with their family, where their emphasis was to build a lodge that welcomed children of all ages, resulting in Jaci’s being established as a one-of-a-kind family friendly African safari destination.

Both Jan and Jaci believe children, of all ages, should be able to experience and be involved in every aspect of the lodge and surrounding environment – influencing them to grow up with a passion, respect and a firm desire to preserve our precious environment – having been on this special journey and enjoyed themselves at Jaci’s.

From the moment you step onto the true African bush soil at Jaci’s to the moment you leave, you and your family’s needs are specially catered for.

Here is a taste of some of Jaci’s personal touches:

Jaci’s offers a special rate for all children 12 years old and younger. They’ll sleep on comfortable stretchers sharing the room with their parents.

The Lodge’s experienced chefs will discuss with you and your children the various options of what they would like to eat (always including veggies – to keep mom happy!

On the daily “family safaris”, experienced guides incorporate fun activities and ask questions to inspire and encourage involvement from your children. Including activities such as tracking and survival techniques etc.

During the day our fully equipped entertainment room provides table soccer, ping pong, books, puzzles and board games for all ages. Jaci’s emphasis is on getting in touch with the great outdoors, so there are no TV’s, DVD’s, or play stations .

“Jungle Drives” are specially provided inbetween the game drives for all children 4 years and younger, they are approx. an hour long and ensure the “little ones” experience the thrill of the African bushveld.

After a long day under the African sun, there’s nothing better than relaxing with a chilled glass of bubbly and a delicious fire cooked meal. Don’t worry, during diner Jaci’s child minders will look after your children so you can relax and enjoy one anothers company.

Only for rich families. Definitely not for your average South African. Believe me - I've tried to book there.
