Cape Town - In summertime, Living is easy on the West Coast. With the sun on your face, surrounded by sea, sitting down to a beach picnic – life couldn’t be any more relaxing.

That’s precisely the thinking behind Abalone House’s newly launched ‘beachnics’, which are designed for guests to be able to soak up the magnificent coastal scenery, in comfort, and without a care in the world.

Essentially the beachnics are private high teas at the ocean’s edge, and are fully catered and packed for guests. A picnic basket with beautifully personalised and packaged snacks, such as wraps, sandwiches, fruit and cupcakes, along with water and cold drinks will be prepared for each guest.

Beach blankets, cushions and hats will also be supplied, and umbrellas and games are available too.

Couples or singles wanting to beachnic, simply need to order their basket in advance and it will be meticulously prepared for them. Then, basket in hand, they can take a short stroll to one of the many beautiful beach coves right in front of Abalone House, or anywhere else along the coastline they choose.

For large groups, Abalone House staff will set up the beachnic in advance for them. So when they arrive, blankets, cushions, food baskets, umbrellas and games will await them. Any special requests – within logistical reason – can also be catered for if requested in advance. Champagne and alcoholic drinks to accompany beachnics do carry an additional charge.

Welcome summer this year from the edge of the Atlantic in enchanting Paternoster, lying back on the beach and snacking on a decadent beachnic.

It’s an enticing alternative to high tea indoors, when the warm weather is beckoning you outside. Take along a favourite game or book and make an afternoon of it, relaxing in comfort under the warm African sun.

Beachnics are complimentary for resident guests staying at Abalone House, and are charged at R200 per person (minimum 2 persons) for anyone else wanting to enjoy this unique offering.
