Cape Town - This weekend, from Friday to Sunday, the Robertson Wine On The River festival celebrates its 10th anniversary.

The festival takes place on the picturesque riverside farm Goudmyn, which is on the R317 between Robertson and Bonnievale.

You’ll be able to taste more than 300 wines from over 40 wineries, and buy at cellar door prices, eat until you are as full as a tick, cruise down the river, shop at the farmers’ market, and listen to blues and jazz. Serious wine lovers can book a tutored tasting.

There will be lots of children’s activities for a fun family day out, and on the Sunday there will be a Duck Derby. For R100 you buy a rubber duck which will be released on the river.

The first “few” to cross the finish line will win their owners fabulous prizes, and all entrants will be entered into a raffle for more prizes. The derby is hosted by Sanlam Alternative Investments, and money raised will go to the Bonnie-People Project, an early childhood development and after-school facility.

l For more information and to book a tutored tasting see www.wineonriver.com. Ticket prices range from R80 to R130 for the Saturday and Sunday and R160 to R250 for a weekend pass. Book through www.webtickets.co.za.
