Cape Town - Spring is a magical time along the West Coast and the flower season is back, setting the scene for another spectacular splash of spring flowers and the Flower Power Festival.

Two hours drive north from Cape Town on the R27, Shelley Point’s annual festival draws visitors from across the globe.

The festival will take place from August 24 to 25 in St Helena Bay at Shelley Point Hotel, Spa & Country Club.

It will include flower tours to the Hopefield Flower Show; adventure and sports in the form of golf, hiking and bicycle trails, and horse riding on the beach.

Entertainment will include a food fare, a craft market, wine tasting, flower art, live music on the Saturday night, a flower power party and planned activities for the children.

Other activities in the area include hiking along the scenic coastline.

One can also go fossil digging at the nearby West Coast Fossil Park.

The rate is R800 per room per night, including breakfast, for a maximum of two adults and two children.
