Hamilton Wende has been there, done that.

This journalist, novelist, broadcaster and columnist, who has been published internationally from north to south, knows what it takes to write and get published in all genres.

As a regular lecturer, he knows how to get this message across to others, too, and derives great pleasure from nurturing skill and adding practical aspects to the writing craft.

The five star de Hoek Country Hotel, nestled outside the hamlet of Magaliesberg, is inviting guests to join this five star writer on a two day writing workshop in fine and stimulating surroundings.

The weekend of October 12-14, 2012 has been set aside for a weekend of learning. The course is fairly intensive, starting on the Friday afternoon and usually continuing well into the night, until Sunday afternoon.

Some of the skills participants will master are:

How, where to begin?

Voice, style, originality, language

Plot, narrative structure, the logic of story-telling

Fiction or non-fiction?

Readership. Who do you aim your book at? Who do you go to for feedback?

Manuscripts, editing, making your final draft the best it can be

How and where to find a publisher

Selling yourself and your book

All the hard work and brain stretching gets rewarded by de Hoek's luxurious accommodation including its signature cuisine.

The room rate for the weekend is R5600 (double and twin available). The workshop costs R1500 per person, all inclusive. Drinks and any additional costs incurred by guests are to be paid for upon departure.
