Kimberley - Kimberley passengers who have booked a flight on Fly Blue Crane have been warned that schedule changes on the routes to and from the city can be expected for the next few weeks.

According to a notice, issued by Chief Commercial Officer Theunis Potgieter, the majority of the airline’s normal published schedules would operate as planned.

“The change in schedule is due to aircraft maintenance as well as changes in our reservation system which will allow us to start selling our product through the Global Distribution System for Travel Agents.”

Potgieter said all affected passengers would be contacted to inform them if their flight has been affected.

“We apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause to our customers.”

The airline’s website has also been updated with the new schedule.

“Alternatively, passengers may also contact our reservations call centre for more information on our operations.”

Last month passengers said they had been left in the lurch after the company rescheduled flights from Johannesburg to Kimberley.

At the time, a spokesperson for Fly Blue Crane said that while airlines did their best to avoid such inconveniences, this was unfortunately not always possible.

“In the case of Fly Blue Crane, when the airline had to cancel an operation due to unforeseen circumstances it offered its passengers the choice of changing their flights to an alternative departure date and time, without incurring any penalties, or give them a full refund.”

The spokesperson added that for the first three weeks of March, Fly Blue Crane either cancelled or rescheduled three departures between Kimberley and Johannesburg due to unforeseen circumstances.

“We are very happy with how things are going with our flights to and from Kimberley, as well as to our other destinations. We are also most gratified with the support and overwhelming positive customer feedback that we continue to receive from our customers regarding our service and product,” he added.

Fly Blue Crane currently flies between Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and Cape Town via Kimberley.

The airline has a fleet of 50-seater Embraer Regional Jet 145 (ERJ).
