Johannesburg - Low-cost carrier FlySafair on Monday touched down at Lanseria International airport for the first time.

The airline celebrated the inaugural flight with the traditional water cannons, and flights will now be fully operational between Lanseria and George, and Lanseria and Cape Town.

Since operating their first flight in October of 2014, FlySafair has quickly grown to become a significant player among domestic airlines in South Africa.

In October 2015 it celebrated the launch of four new routes – between Cape Town and Durban, and Johannesburg and Durban, Cape Town and East London, Johannesburg and East London – in response to popular demand from customers.

It has again put customers first by bringing its great fares to Lanseria in response to requests from those who live in northern Johannesburg and Pretoria that find Lanseria an easier option.

Lanseria also serves a large market of business travellers, and FlySafair recently announced their expansion into the business travel market by selling seats on business travel platform, MyMarket 2.0.

MyMarket is an online travel agency platform offered to corporate travellers.

“The airline’s seat inventory will now be available to the likes of BCD Travel, Harvey World Travel, Carlson Wagonlit, Rennies Travel and Travel Connections,” Kirby Gordon, Vice President of Sales & Distribution at FlySafair says.
