Windhoek - Over 300 exhibitors and more than 22 000 visitors are expected to throng the Namibia Tourism Expo, which kicked off on Wednesday in the capital Windhoek.

The Tourism Expo 2016, which will last till Saturday, will run under the theme of “Community”, where neighbouring countries from different communities will celebrate unity through different innovative ways.

“The significance of the fact that the Expo has been growing, be it on the visitors side or exhibitors from neighbouring countries, is already a milestone,” said Maggy Mbako, Public Relations Executive of the organiser.

She said that this year they expect over 300 exhibitors from Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and also international exhibitors from Indonesia.

Mbako said the highlight of the expo, which will celebrate its 18th year anniversary, is the Unity Square, a joint exhibition point in the Presidential Hall, introduced for the key stakeholders to share a stand.

“This year, we will be staging some of the well known names in the food industry, therefore it will be a stand to visit during the Expo, for the tasting of different cuisines paired with different types of good wines,” she added.
