Cape Town - The government has thrown its weight behind TripAdvisor’s proposed policy that blocks travellers from booking tickets for activities that involve contact with endangered species or captive wild animals.

The world's largest travel website has recently announced its commitment to launch a set of changes, including its policy on selling tickets to animal attractions.

Tourism department spokesperson Trevor Bloem said: “We applaud TripAdvisor on their commitment to this cause.”

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) said: “There is no educational value in petting lion cubs. This is pure entertainment.”
