South African Hidden Treasures is one of the most innovative and far-reaching local tourism and heritage initiatives.
Identified and developed by the Tourism Enterprise Partnership (TEP), it is a premier collection of quality tourism experiences and craft offerings that provide visitors with an authentic taste of our country’s rich and varied history and culture.
TEP is funded by the government and large corporates. It offers hands-on, step-by-step support and guidance to more than 3 000 small, medium and micro tourism businesses.
TEP facilitates the creation of much-needed jobs and exposes the “alternative face” to the traditional South African tourism experience.
Through Hidden Treasures, TEP aims to comprehensively showcase the whole South African product.
Hidden Treasures adds that “special something” – often a personal experience – to any itinerary, and creates a unique and memorable encounter that is world class.
