London - The travel brochure shows you a stunning sunset and cocktails by the pool, but when you get there, it’s anything but your “dream holiday.” We take a look at the less than tranquil reality of those holiday idylls.

Spanish lies: Explore the eternal city of Rome, the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain and take a breather on the Spanish Steps — along with hundreds of other tourists with the same idea.

Probably the most mobbed statue in Denmark: Donated by a Carlsberg brewery heir, the Little Mermaid bronze in Copenhagen is supposed to look out on a tranquil sea, but she is hit by waves of sightseers.

Stretching a point: They promote the idyllic Maya Bay beach on Koh Phi Phi Ley island in Thailand as the perfect spot for peaceful yoga and meditation — but you have to get there really early to be alone with your thoughts.

You’ve been framed: Think you can study Leonardo’s masterpiece in silence at the Louvre? No wonder the Mona Lisa has a wry smile.

Canal bargers: Venice bills itself as the world’s most romantic city, with a gondola ride the ultimate experience. Imagine the racket if all the gondoliers were singing Just One Cornetto.

More from the canals of Venice ✨🙌🏻 Have a nice day dear friends!
