London - We dash them off almost without thinking, little suspecting our scribbled postcards might be future online sensations.

Enterprising postcard collector Tom Jackson has created a hit Twitter account from his huge haul.

He Tweets photos of the front of the cards and snippets of the message on the back.

These are either sweet, mundane... or intriguingly enigmatic.

The account @PastPostcard has more than 24 000 followers and the cards will be published as a book next year.
