First holiday memory?
I had never been on holiday, but I suppose the camps we used to go on as children will count. My first holiday was to Durban with a bunch of friends.

Eastern Cape. The natural beauty of the province is unmatched.

Mozambique with my wife.

There is a beauty everywhere that you go.
Ideal travelling companion?
Wife and iPad.
Beach bum, culture vulture or adrenalin junkie?
Beach bum – my life and work are adrenalin-fuelled so it’s sometimes nice to just lie on the beach, not get noticed and chill.
Greatest travel luxury?
Headphones.
Holiday reading?
I normally take about three books with me and whatever is on my Kindle.
Which place has seduced you?
George, in the Western Cape, Dublin in Ireland.
Worst travel experience?
Our flight from Glasgow to London was delayed and we had no other transport at night and ended up hopelessly lost in the middle of London at 2am, without knowing how to get back to where we were staying.
Best hotel?
The Cullinan in Cape Town.
Favourite walk, swim, ride or drive?
The beach in Langebaan is great for a walk.
Best meal abroad?
Pasta at an Italian restaurant in Chicago.

Rome.
