Cape Town - Camps Bay beach has taken 24th place by Tripadvisor users voting for their best beaches in the Travelers’ Choice Awards for 2014.

Baia do Sancho in Brazil, Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos, and Flamenco Beach, Puerto Rico were listed as the top three beaches in the world.

Four other Cape Town beaches; Camps Bay, Clifton, Boulder’s Beach and Bloubergstrand were voted amongst Africa’s best beaches and in the Western Cape, Buffalo Bay in Knysna, Grotto Beach, Hermanus and Brenton on Sea, Knysna made the list of best African beaches too.

CEO of Cape Town Tourism, Enver Duminy, says; “Cape Town’s beaches offer a real relationship with nature and are very much a part of our everyday lives. Beyond summer sunbathing they are our year-round back yard for walking, exploring, water sports and childhood adventures, and many are perfect look out points for winter whale watching.”

Cape Town also has eight internationally recognised Blue Flag beaches, all of which are in close proximity to many other Cape Town attractions such as Table Mountain, the Camps Bay strip and the quaint seaside towns along the False Bay coast line.

The eight Blue Flag beaches are Bikini beach, Camps Bay, Clifton 4th beach, Llandudno, Mnandi beach, Muizenberg, Silwerstroomstrand and Strandfontein beach.

All of Cape Town’s beaches are free to use with the exception of Boulder’s Beach, home to a colony of African Penguins, and the entry fees needed to access the Table Mountain National Park and its Diaz Beach in the Cape Point Nature Reserve.
