The left-sided window seat has been named as the best spot to secure, following a survey of 1,000 passengers.
It may offer a better view, but sitting in the window seat on an aeroplane could increase your risk of deep-vein thrombosis (DVT).
It is one of the dangers highlighted for long-distance travellers – along with being pregnant, elderly or taking the contraceptive pill.
Sitting by the window deters passengers from leaving their seat to stretch their calf muscles and increase circulation.
DVT is a blood clot in a leg vein, which runs through the muscles of the calf or thigh.
It affects around 25 000 people a year in Britain and can lead to a fatal blockage in the lung – a pulmonary embolism. These guidelines were published in the latest issue of the American medical journal, Chest. – Daily Mail

This article is incomplete: planes use a certain amount of oxygen, which is less than we have in our houses. The question is whether walking around on a plane requires more oxygen and therefore CAUSES DVT. Look at the age demographic of people getting DVT. Also, compare plane oxygen levels to when smoking used to be tolerated in the plane - it was much higher.

I think this is very good advice and it makes sense. When sitting at the window, just get up and make everybody else stand up to let you through, then their risk of DVT is also reduced further! What is wrong with you people? Do you only want to read about Juju and Jubjub?

And what is the bottom line of this article? Don't use the window seat as the view doesn't like blood.

Blame the narrow cramped seating on aircraft. The passengers are packed in like sardines.
