Cape Town - Exclamations such as: “… amazing – like an out of body experience!” and “…exceeded my wildest expectations” are tributes to the thrill of The Greatest Day, a one day Ultimate Antarctica Experience offered by The Mantis Collection.

Mantis if offering guests an opportunity to join the elite group of travellers who have visited the other-worldly interior of Antarctica. Scheduled for December 10, 2015, the adventure takes you into the heart of Antarctica - a place of 24 hour sunlight and pure discovery.

The expedition starts in Cape Town, South Africa, with a safety briefing at Mantis boutique hotel, The Last Word Constantia. Guests then have the rest of the day free experience the sites, gastronomy, fine wines and breathtaking scenery the Mother City has to offer.

At 23:00hrs the following evening, the five hour charter flight from Cape Town International across the Southern Ocean and over endless icebergs, marks the start of the adventure.

The flight lands at Novo Runway where specialist polar guides will ensure everyone gets the most out of this boundless adventure. With mild summer temperatures of around -5, the guests will be kept warm and safe while they choose from a variety of activities ranging from high-energy pursuits to those designed for the laid-back traveller.

Ultimate Antarctica activies include:

A trek over to the 100-metre cliffs that offer striking vistas to the coast

The chance to meet nesting adelie penguins

Visit ice grottos – natural tunnels winding through the glacier - that are as surreal as they are enchanting

Live like a ‘local’ and sauna at the Russian Science Base

The 10 hours guests will spend on the ice in Antarctica will be more than enough to appreciate the wonder of this continent’s dreamlike landscape.

After a morning of incomparably-invigorating activities, one of Cape Town’s premier chefs will serve a tantalising champagne lunch before the flight back to Cape Town.

Cast off convention and do something extraordinary.

At €9 800 (about R147 000) this experience of a lifetime is what memories are made of…
