Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma has signed into law two Eskom bills that will give the utility R83-billion in extra money to fund its operations and the building of its new power stations.
Parliament announced on Tuesday that Zuma has assented to the Eskom Special Appropriation Bill and the Eskom Special Subordinated Loan Amendment Bill.
The bills were brought to Parliament last month to approve the cash injection of R23bn into Eskom and conversion of the R60bn loan into equity.
Acting Eskom chief executive Brian Molefe said recently that the signing into law of the two bills would improve its image.
