Lonmin: Chief operating officer calls it a day

LONMIN chief operating officer Johan Viljoen had resigned, the company said yesterday. “The board of Lonmin announces the resignation for personal reasons of Johan Viljoen, chief operating officer. Ben Moolman, the head of our business support office will, with immediate effect, become acting chief operating officer for the time being, alongside his current role,” the company said in a statement. Moolman rejoined Lonmin in August from Glencore Xstrata where he was chief operating officer of the platinum division. On Monday, Lonmin announced in a statement that Phuti Mahanyele had notified the company of her intention to resign as a non-executive director of the company with effect from June 30.

Lonmin shares eased 1.05 percent to close at R29.20 yesterday. – Sapa
