Johannesburg – Telecommunication giant MTN said on Wednesday that the majority of its staff who had embarked on a strike had returned to work and the company further confirmed that it had not entered into an agreement with the Communications Workers Union (CWU).

MTN said it had reiterated that the policy of no work no pay still applied to those employees who were still on strike.

“Customers are of utmost importance to us and we have beefed up our contingency plans to ensure that we resume normal operations.”

MTN said that the contingency plans were working and that the customer call centre’s operations were improving by the day, while the distribution channels had reported less interruptions.

“As MTN, we remain committed to bringing innovative solutions for our customers, we will continue to provide a service that will positively contribute to the growth of our economy.”
