Johannesburg - Members of South Africa's largest union NUMSA could down tools in a wildcat strike at state-power utility Eskom if disputes over wages and other issues are not resolved, its deputy general secretary Karl Cloete said on Thursday.

NUMSA has 11,000 members at Eskom, where workers are generally not allowed to strike by law because they are considered to provide “essential services”.

Cloete gave no time frame for a possible Eskom stoppage, which is not part of a wider strike its members plan to embark on from July 1. - Reuters
