Sekunjalo Investments, one of the top empowerment companies on the JSE, had won a significant governance award, it said yesterday.
Sekunjalo said it had achieved the highest sustainability data transparency index (SDTI) score for the financial services sector within the Top 500 JSE-listed companies last week.
The research was done by Integrated Reporting and Assurance Services, an independent organisation that analyses the Top 500 South African companies’ reporting, specifically looking at corporate governance.
Dr Iqbal Survé, the executive chairman of Sekunjalo, said the company had shown consistent growth over the past few years on a financial and qualitative reporting basis.
He said Sekunjalo did not only pride itself on financial success but also in uplifting communities.
Sekunjalo received the award at the 6th Annual Report on Environmental, Social Governance (Sustainability) Reporting in South Africa in Johannesburg.
The company was ranked 16th overall for SDTI for this year compared with a ranking of 182 in 2013. – Staff Reporter
