SIBANYE Gold was not interested in Impala Platinum’s (Implats) Marula mine, it said yesterday. Implats announced earlier yesterday its intention to sell Marula, which produced 78 500 ounces of platinum in its 2014 financial year, as part of an effort to build cash. “It is probably too small for our purposes,” Sibanye spokesman James Wellsted said. Wellsted said it remained interested in “more meaningful assets”, such as Anglo American Platinum’s Rustenburg and Union mines. Sibanye shares rose 0.81 percent to close at R29.95. – Reuters
