Watchdog approves 3 large mergers

Cape Town - The Competition Commission on Friday announced it had approved three separate large mergers involving the telecoms, chemical, and property sectors.

In a statement, the commission said the Competition Tribunal, to which it referred the mergers, had approved the deals in hearings held on Thursday.

They are:

- Wireless application service provider Blue Label Telecoms acquiring a controlling interest in distributor Viamedia;

- Gas and chemical company Air Products buying Sasol Chemical Industries' A2100 Air Separation Unit and associated plants, storage facilities, and certain pipelines; and,

- Property group Resilient Properties acquiring the entire issued share capital and immovable property of Gauteng mixed-use retail complex Jubilee Mall. - Sapa
