WEBTICKETS, the integrated online ticketing solutions company based in South Africa, is keen to expand into other southern African countries after entering the Zimbabwean market during the recent tour of the country by the Proteas for bilateral cricket Tests and a triangular tournament that included Australia.

A few weeks before Webtickets entered Zimbabwe, Ezzytickets announced its presence on the country’s online ticketing scene. Webtickets will be competing with another local company, Zimticket, as well.

Pascal Nyasha, who heads a team of five people at Ezzytickets, said last week that online ticketing helped organisers of functions and events to deal with the logistical hurdles associated with selling and distributing tickets.

Webtickets says it has been received growing demand for e-ticketing solutions from the wider southern Africa region.

“Our expansion into Zimbabwe was due to our clients requesting our service offering there and we have had additional demand,” Jonathan Wayne, the co-founder of Webtickets, said.

The company commenced operations in Zimbabwe last month.

“We are currently operating in Botswana and Zimbabwe, and we plan to expand our footprint in Africa with future expansion into Angola, Zambia and east Africa,” Wayne added.
