Johannesburg - A miners' assistant was killed in a fall-of-ground incident at Mponeng Mine in Carletonville, AngloGold Ashanti said on Thursday.
“The department of mineral resources has been notified and an in loco inspection was carried out,” spokesman Chris Nthite said in a statement.
“In the meantime, stoping and development activities have been suspended.”
The accident happened on Wednesday.
AngloGold Ashanti sent its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues.
