ZIMBABWE yesterday said it had scrapped payment of bonuses to civil servants, with the Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa citing constrained revenue generation by the state owing to a struggling economy that has resulted in subdued tax payments by companies. The announcement comes after a state visit to South Africa by President Robert Mugabe and a team of cabinet ministers and business people. Chinamasa announced that bonus payments were weighing down the state’s stretched obligations. – Tawanda Karombo
