Johannesburg - Maize increased the most in two weeks in Johannesburg trading. Wheat gained.

White maize for delivery in December rose 2.4 percent, the biggest gain for a most-active contract since October 14, to 1,924 rand a metric ton by the midday close on the South African Futures Exchange.

The yellow variety added 1.8 percent to 1,968.20 rand a ton.

South Africa uses white maize to make a staple food known locally as pap, while the yellow type is mainly fed to animals.

Wheat increased 0.3 percent to 3,626 rand a ton. - Bloomberg News
