Cape Town - Eskom implemented stage 2 loadshedding early on Saturday morning.

In a statement, the power utility said: “Eskom will implement Stage 2 loadshedding from 07:00 until 22:00 this evening. This is due to a combination of a shortage of generating units and low reserve levels at our pumped storage schemes and open cycle gas turbines.

“It is important to note that Eskom implements loadshedding as a necessary measure to protect the power system and to ensure that maintenance is carried out in order to guarantee that a reliable supply of electricity can be maintained in the long term.”
