Johannesburg -

Eskom workers affiliated to Numsa are planning to picket outside Megawatt Park, the power utility's headquarters, in Sunninghill, Johannesburg, on Wednesday.

The workers are demanding an increase of 12 percent across the board.

Numsa also wants a R1 000 housing allowance and a standby allowance of R100.

Eskom spokesman Andrew Etzinger on Tuesday said the company had obtained an interdict from the labour court, barring the workers from embarking on industrial action.

Numsa spokesman Castro Ngobese said the interdict would not prevent them from demonstrating.

“We aren't threatened by Eskom's interdict and it should not be wasting money and energy on interdicts,” Ngobese said. - Sapa
