Cape Town - Eskom commenced load shedding in Stage 1 on Monday morning.
The electricity provider said on its Twitter feed: “Due to the electricity demand that exceeded the supply, Eskom implemented load shedding Stage 1 from 11h00 to 22h00 tonight.”
Eskom had earlier warned that the power grid was under strain due to technical problems at some power stations, adding that there was a high possibility of load shedding this week.
Consumers have been asked to reduce their power consumption.
