Cape Town - The price of all grades of petrol will drop by 67 cents a litre next week, the energy department said on Friday.

The price of diesel would decrease by 25.38 cents a litre, and that of illuminating paraffin by 25 cents a litre.

The price of LP Gas would fall by R1.08 a kilogram.

The new prices would come into effect on Wednesday.

The department said Energy Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson had approved a retail margin increase of 4.2 cents per litre from Wednesday.

This increase was to accommodate the nine percent salary increase for fuel pump attendants and cashiers. - Sapa
