Johannesburg - There is a moderate chance that rolling blackouts may be implemented this week, power utility Eskom said on Monday.

“The system is currently constrained but stable. One could say there is a 50/50 chance of implementing load shedding,” spokesman Khulu Phasiwe said.

He said the system was expected to take on more strain, which it could withstand.

“But if any of our generators break down, then we may have to implement load shedding this week, but our plan is not to implement any.”
