Randgold Resources would start a study of Kenya’s gold mining potential at the end of this month, the country’s Mining Secretary, Najib Balala, said. “We’ve allowed them to come to Kenya to look at the opportunities,” Balala said last week at the Kibali mine, which is operated by Randgold Resources in the Democratic Republic of Congo. “We’ve not given them a licence yet.” Randgold chairman Mark Bristow said at the Kibali mine: “There’s some gold potential in Kenya, particularly down the south just across the border from where North Mara is in Tanzania.” – Bloomberg
