Chairman Graham Mackay was taking a further leave of absence after a “recent sudden worsening” of his health following brain surgery earlier this year, SABMiller, the second-biggest brewer, said on Friday. Deputy chairman John Manser had been re-appointed acting chairman, a role he held for five months during Mackay’s initial recovery, the company said. Mackay only returned as chairman two months ago. In April, he stepped down early as chief executive, and was replaced by Alan Clark. SABMiller dropped 0.75 percent to close at R522.46 on the JSE on Friday. – Bloomberg
