Johannesburg - The South African Post Office will pay its outstanding service bill to South African Airways on Wednesday, its acting chief executive Mlu Mathonsi said in a statement.

Mathonsi’s comment came after news that SAA was refusing to carry overseas mail because Sapo, beleaguered by strike action and operational difficulties, owed it money.

“We can confirm that our account has been suspended, but we foresee minimal impact, if any, owing to the fact that the account will be paid today, 1 April 2015,” Mathonsi said.
