Johannesburg - The country’s biggest trade union federation, Cosatu, has threatened to go on strike should the government continue to not consult it on proposed pension fund reforms.

Speaking at the opening of its national congress in Johannesburg, president S’dumo Dlamini, also threatened the federation would re-consider its support for the ANC at next year’s elections should the government not speak to Cosatu.

He again accused “foreign money”, in “particular from North America”, as being behind attempts to split Cosatu.

“(But) forget about (expelled matalworkers union, Numsa’s) United Front – we have all refused to join it,” Dlamini told about 2000 delegates.
