A response on last week’s letters page (“Your Questions Answered”, August 22) referred to stamp duty as among the costs of transferring a property on death. A reader pointed out to Personal Finance that stamp duty has been abolished.

Braam Fouché, the PSG financial adviser who gave the advice, says: “Your reader is correct – stamp duty no longer exists. Including this reference as an example of a potential charge was an unfortunate oversight on my behalf, for which I sincerely apologise. However, I am comfortable that the guidance I gave remains valid and, I trust, helpful.”
