Apple updated its MacBook Pro today with Retina display, faster processors, double the current memory, and a lower-price for their 15-inch and 13-inch notebook.

The new laptop comes with a retina display and nine hours of battery life. It's also only 0.71-inches thick.

"People love their MacBook Pro because of the thin and light, aluminium unibody design, beautiful Retina display, all day battery life and deep integration with OS X," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. "The MacBook Pro with Retina display gets even better with faster processors, more memory, more affordable configurations and a free upgrade to OS X Yosemite this fall."

According to Apple, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro comes with a dual-core Intel Core i5 processors, up to 2.8 GHz, and Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.3 GHz and 8GB of memory. The entry-level notebook came with 4GB memory.

The new 15-inch model comes with faster quad-core Intel Core i7 processors up to 2.5 GHz and Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.7 GHz. It also has 16GB of memory, up from the 8GB in the original laptop.

Both also come with two new applications, "iLife" and "iWork."

"iLife lets you edit your favourite videos with iMovie, create new music or learn to play piano or guitar with GarageBand, and organise, edit and share your best shots with iPhoto," Apple released in a statement. "iWork makes it easy to create, edit and share stunning documents, spreadsheets and presentations."

iWork is also compatible with iCloud beta to allow users to create documents on an iPhone or iPad, edit it on their computers, and collaborate with friends or colleagues, even those using PCs.

The new laptops also come with OS X Mavericks, Apple's most advanced operating system to date with more than 200 features and the capacity to boost the laptops performance and improve its battery life.

Apple will be releasing OS X Yosemite, an updated version of OS X, as a free download this spring.
