BRITISH rock band Asking Alexandria will bring their blend of aggressive music with hints of European trance and soft catchy melodies to the stage at Hillcrest Quarry in Durbanville on May 2.

When they released their debut album Stand Up and Scream in 2009 it brought them to the attention of the metal and hard rock underground scene. Their sound was considered more mature than an average play-by-numbers hardcore band.

Their second album, Reckless and Relentless, debuted at N0 9 on the Billboard Top 200 and won an Independent Music Award in 2012 for the best metal/hardcore album. Their latest album From Death to Destiny was released in August.

“Since our formation, we’ve toured all over the world, released three studio albums and made the most amazing friends and fans along the way. We have absolutely no intentions of slowing down,” says guitarist Ben Bruce.

Metal act Facing the Gallows will open for Asking Alexandria at both the Cape Town and Joburg shows. They released their debut EP in the form of a split album with friends The Dead Will Tell entitled This Is Hate City in 2012. The band has just released their latest offering, Chapters.

Parking will be available just under a kilometre from Hillcrest Quarry, and attendees can either walk, or use a shuttle service for R5 per single trip. There will be well-stocked bars, food stalls and medical personnel. No under-16s will be allowed and under-18s must be accompanied by an adult over 21 (ID required).
