A JUDGE has given AgangSA founder Mamphela Ramphele a chance to respond to “serious allegations” made against her by one of two parallel leadership structures in the party.
She has until 11am today.
Michael Tshishonga, who identified himself as the deputy president of AgangSA, Andries Tlouamma and a group of other applicants approached the Western Cape High Court on an urgent basis over the party’s legitimate leadership structure.
The matter came before Judge Siraj Desai yesterday.
Judge Desai said he had read the applicants’ court papers and it appeared the principal allegations related to Ramphele, one of the respondents in the matter.
Advocate Michael Osborne, acting for the applicants, told the court that Ramphele had announced her exit from politics on July 8.
They had made every possible attempt to contact her.
Judge Desai said that while the matter was “patently urgent” it would be appropriate to give Ramphele an opportunity to respond.
She was the founder of a political party and a prominent citizen, and there were allegations made in the applicants’ papers that “impact on her propriety and credibility”.
He postponed the matter to 11am today.
