TWO cyclists were attacked and robbed of their expensive bikes and one was stabbed in the leg on the Black Hill cycling trail.

Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said a case of robbery was opened at the Fish Hoek police station. No one has been arrested.

Marco Garuti and Guy Wills were cycling on a single track on Black Hill at Sun Valley towards Noordhoek on Saturday. Garuti said two men armed with big knives confronted and threatened them. Wills was stabbed in the leg and later treated on the scene.

After handing over their bikes, one of the men chased him for more than 100m and tried to stab him.

“I ran for my life,” Garuti said.

He said the two attackers had an accomplice with a cellphone at the top parking lot, who was pretending to be a car guard.

Pedal Power Association chairman Steve Hayward said there had been an increase in attacks on cyclists because they often cycled alone or in pairs.
