BANTING ice-creams, craft beers and 20kg edible cakes are some of the array of interesting treats visitors can expect this weekend at the Good Food and Wine Show at the CTICC.

South Africa’s current food trends are being showcased and include a banting section where foodies can enjoy guilt-free ice cream.

N2Icreamlab is one of the stalls in the banting food section where people can enjoy vanilla, chocolate and caramel flavours made with Xylitol instead of sugar.

N2Icreamlab owner Errol Groenewald said: ”We comply fully with the banting rules.”

Pizza lovers can also enjoy guilt-free pizza slices sold in the banting section by Selfie SA. Selfie sales manager Hein Kymdell said they also sold dough and brownies that were all gluten free and banting friendly. “People with diabetes can also eat our food,” he said.

Those still wanting to indulge in the guilty pleasure of wine, cocktails and craft beer will enjoy the Art of Wine area. Craft Beer Project managing director Russ Meyer said:

“Craft beers have become popular because people are keen to explore a different taste.”

The

Eat Cake Party’s 20kg edible cake will be one of the showstoppers.

Yesterday its creators were putting the final touches to the life-sized cake dubbed “Bride-in-a-bath” that will be the official cake at this year’s show.
