MTN said yesterday it would not budge on its offer given to striking employees and pledged to bring the disrupted operations into full operational mode, safeguard the lives of non-striking employees and protect its infrastructure and facilities.

Themba Nyathi, HR executive, said MTN was offering a “comprehensive” eight percent guaranteed bonus, to be payable in two instalments, and the first payment was made in March. The second instalment would be payable in December.

Deputy general secretary of the Communications Workers Union, Thabo Mugalane, would not comment, and stated the union would be meeting with MTN to discuss the matter.
