THE 48-year-old man charged with the murder of Moegamat Toufiq Joseph has been identified as Hout Bay resident David Forbes.

Forbes appeared at the Cape Town Magistrate's Court today wearing a name branded shirt which covered all tattoos on his arms.

He sat upright in the dock during proceedings

Forbes' lawyer Ross McKennan told the court that his client intended to apply for bail.

His case has been postponed until tomorrow for bail information.

McKennan told the court that Forbes will be held at the Cape Town Central police station as detectives still needed to photograph wounds on his body and draw blood which would form part of the defence's case.

"This can not be done if my client is taken to a detention facility," McKenna said.

Forbes is alleged to have shot Joseph in the parking area of the Engen garage in Orange Street at the weekend.

It is suspected that the sale of tickets for the internationally celebrated music festival Ultra may have been the reason for the shooting.
