INDEPENDENT Media launches a quarterly publication today, Independent World of Work, that will take a closer look at labour, jobs and the political economy.

Independent World of Work will feature contributions from a number of commentators about the major labour market and economic developments in South Africa and across the continent.

“We’re investing more resources into our labour coverage, something that unions, employers, the state and researchers should be thrilled about and support,” said group labour editor and Independent World of Work founding editor Amy Musgrave.

Among the contributors are renowned sociologist Eddie Webster, political analyst Ebrahim Fakir, labour historian Steven Friedman, poverty and inequality researcher Isobel Frye and economist Neva Makgetla.

Independent World of Work is the latest in a series of product launches from Independent Media.

Independent Media executive chairman Dr Iqbal Survé said: “Our country needs investment and growth, sharing of ideas and respecting the positions of all stakeholders. Independent World of Work is the first platform in the media landscape to achieve this.”

The first edition is out today and can be found as a free insert.
