SEVEN men have been arrested and are to appear in court once they have been charged in connection with last week’s murder of six men in Joostenberg Vlakte, near Kraaifontein, police spokesman FC van Wyk said yesterday.

The seven were arrested in Kraaifontein yesterday and would appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court soon, Van Wyk said.

“Our investigation… is yet to be completed and, until then, more information regarding the arrests cannot be disclosed.”

Last week a passer-by made the gruesome discovery of the bodies of six men lying face-down in the bush with tied hands and feet.

They were murdered, allegedly vigilante-style. Next to them were bloodied stones allegedly used to kill them. A task team consisting of senior detectives was set up to probe the murders and a R250 000 reward was offered for information that would lead to arrests and the prosecution of the murderers.

Among the six men murdered was 32-year-old Lulama Dunga, who was a street vendor in Kraaifontein.

Dunga’s sister, Madimbo Masiu, said the image of her brother lying in a mortuary would be etched into her mind forever. Dunga’s face was almost unrecognisable and she could not make out any of his features when she was asked to identify him. The family would meet this week to make funeral arrangements.

Nofomile Ngxabela last week confirmed that her sons, Sakhele and Sandisile, were among the murdered men.
