THE Claremont Main Road Mosque condemned this week’s terrorist killing of 132 Pakistani pupils and nine teachers by the Taliban, and is to offer prayers for the victims and families at the weekly Jumuah today, said its imam, Rashied Omar.

“This latest atrocity points to the complete lack of respect and reverence for the sanctity and sacredness of human life by the perpetrators. Words cannot express the ignominy and cruelty of such a cowardly massacre against innocent children and teachers. This callous act of violence reflects the contempt which the perpetrators have for the education of children,” Omar said.

“We call for swift action to apprehend and bring to justice those behind this inexcusable terror attack. We call on the government of Pakistan and international peacekeeping forces to do more to protect the rights of all children to education.”

The Masjidul-Quds, in Gatesville, is to conduct a vigil after its Jumuah prayers, also today.

Taliban terrorists had broken into the military-run high school in the city of Peshawar and opened fire. More than eight hours after they slipped in through a back entrance, the army said the nine insurgents were killed. – Staff Writer
