A BLACK actress claims she was ‘handcuffed and detained’ by police after being mistaken for a prostitute when she kissed her white husband in the street.

Daniele Watts, 33, who featured in the award-winning film, Django Unchained, said her wrist was cut in the incident in Hollywood.

On Facebook, she also posted a photo of herself crying in the street with "anger, frustration and rage".

Miss Watts and her husband Brian James Lucas, a chef, said the two officers wanted to see her ID card but she refused.

She alleges she was handcuffed and put ‘roughly’ in a police car for failing to "agree I had done something wrong by showing affection, fully clothed, in a public place".

Mr Lucas said on Facebook that he believed someone called the police as they thought the couple looked like a prostitute and client.

Police said Miss Watts was not arrested. She was released after her identity was confirmed. - Daily Mail
